I am a 55 year old former military police officer with a lot of arrest control training. I have studied and practiced Shotokan Karate, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiujitsu for a long time. All together I have trained in martial arts for more than 40 years. Cass taught a weapon retention class that kicked my butt and educated me in the best way. When you train with him you can tell he has vast experience and he is adept at sharing that experience. He is a great combatives trainer. He's no nonsense, no excuses, and hands on. You will add a lot of tools to your arsenal when you train with him. If I get a chance to train with him again I will go far out of my way to do it.
Before I started training with Cass, I had done a good variety of workouts during my 40+ year life, but my training with him opened my eyes to a much wider perspective on goal-specific programming. My case study revolved around mountain sport athletics, and I'm 45 years of age now. Not only did we do movements and exercises I hadn't done before, but the calculation and order of how to do the workouts made sure I was properly warmed up, used correct technique, avoided injury, and worked towards measurable progression. As an example, I had never used sandbags before, but seeing how they can drive results fast, they are now one of my favorite ways to add strength, explosiveness, and a volcanic heart-pumping workout all at once. I would never have been inspired for such a workout on my own, and we did many things I had never tried, which not only made workouts more unique and fun, but were effective.
I am 36, my name is Ernesto, I am from Spain. Before training with Cass I had tried different methods to keep motivated and not to give up but I always ended up quitting. I did not like or enjoy training nor spending time in gyms, however when I started to train with Cass I didn't miss a day of training. I improved so much my physical condition and I started to build up real muscle. After a great experience training with Coach Cass I moved back home and I still miss those gym classes and the fun and challenging exercises that he used to prepare for us. It was just different, motivating, and the results were amazing. I wish Cass the best, I wish we had his methodologies in Spain, it would be a success.
I worked with Cass before I went to the IFSC World Youth Championships 2016 in Guangzhou, China. He was a phenomenal coach and was a critical component in my preparation for this international competition. With the physical and mental training I received from Cass I was able to receive a 6th place finish in the combined Olympic Format at the YWCC. It was an honor to work with Cass and have him be a huge part of this life event as a youth athlete.
Working with Cass was one of the most rewarding processes I've experienced with a personal trainer. His lesson plans are consistently insightful and achieve a solid balance between being both challenging AND realistic for my goals.
Cass took my individual needs, current status, and limitations into account and put an appreciable amount of work into our training plans.
I'd highly recommend his instruction to those looking for a tactical edge or to push their performance to the next level.
Cass coached me for awhile when we worked together at Momentum Indoor Climbing. I was about 32 at the time. I had always been active in a variety of sports into high school, so I had always been reasonably fit, but I never got much into weight training until I worked with Cass.
His approach was fresh, easy to understand, and I made steady gains during my time with him.
The workouts were targeted to climbing in my case, which was really helpful to not only climb at a higher level to be able to send more routes, but it was also helpful to avoid injury.
To often cross training is too broad, but his clear understanding of the body as a trainer allows him to tailor workouts according to real world goals. Most trainers seem to learn just enough to get certified, but Cass insists on continually learning new techniques, how to balance nutrition and any other education that helps him hone his craft as the highest quality trainer.
My wife and I are 62 years old. Neither one of us has ever done any kind of structured workout program of any kind. Cass kept trying to get us to get us to come to him for strength training and give it a serious long term commitment. While we have known Cass and Kandace for years, we did not want to be the old couple in a class full of lunkheads. But we gave it a serious commitment and started working out with Cass three days a week. At 62 years old we have never been stronger. We will never look like we did 35 years ago, but the first and most important thing we learned about his training is that, big ain't strong, strong is strong.
My wife can deadlift 170 and I have a personal best of 395 and I can bench 250. And we are in our 60's. We own a mattress and furniture store and at 62 we can unload an entire semi and not get hurt. That's why we workout with Cass. We will never be the old people that have to sit and rest after one flight of stairs. And if you are in law enforcement or are a firefighter, you are crazy if you don't hit him up. I mean he's a black belt in multiple forms of martial arts and has been training people from all walks of life for most of his adult life and if allowed to go full hands on, you are seriously screwed. To be the best you need to train with the best. If you genuinely want to be the strongest you can be for the activity level you are at in your life, Cass is the guy.
